Interview with Technical Analyst Award Winner Steve Miley

Chris Lee

A couple of weeks ago our editor and writer here at ForexFraud won an award for the Best Independent Research House for Fixed Income award at the Technical Analyst Awards! We are very happy for him and thought it was best to ask him some questions about the award and also let you get to know him a bit more.

Moderator: First, Congratulations Steve on winning the Best Independent Research House for Fixed Income award at the Technical Analyst Awards! I’m certain some of our readers are very curious about this award… I know I am! Would you mind telling us a little bit about the award itself and about the Technical Analyst awards in general.

Steve: The Technical Analyst was established in 2004 and offers technical strategy and ideas to the global institutional financial markets.

It has a readership of fund managers, traders and hedge funds, publishing technical analysis outlooks from academics, banks and brokers. They host annual awards that highlight excellence in technical analysis research.

Moderator: And this is the 2nd time you have won this award?

Steve: I have been a finalist as The Market Chartist as an Independent Research House in categories including Best FX, Commodities and Equities for every year since 2013, winning Best Independent Research House for Fixed Income in 2013 and now in 2016. I was also the winner of Best Bank Research for FX in 2012 when I was a Director at Credit Suisse.

Moderator: Steve, you’ve been in Forex for a long time… What about the research and analysis aspect has kept you motivated for all these years?

Steve: I have been in the Investment Banking industry since 1991 and a technical research analysts since 1999. Even before this I used technical analysis in my position as an Institutional Broker. It is now very much in my blood and I never tire of looking at and interpreting charts across asset classes. I have concentrated more on Forex since 2008 and find it a dynamic and exciting area.

Moderator: Obviously it has definitely been a worthwhile pursuit! As I understand it, you were also a contender for Technical Analyst of the Year alongside some of the Big Corporations like Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Bloomberg and Oppenheimer. While Oppenheimer ultimately won, you were one of the Finalists! Congratulations on that as well… It is quite the achievement… It shows how highly your peers think of you. How did it feel when you first found out you won the Best Independent Research House for Fixed Income award and were a finalist for Technical Analyst of the Year?

Steve: It is always fantastic to be recognised by ones peers and as I have a long term history in Fixed Income, it was particularly exciting to win this award. To then be nominated as Technical Analyst of the Year is a great honour amongst such giants in the technical analysis community.

Moderator: I can imagine! What do you see coming next for you?

Steve: I am involved in many exiting projects at the moment alongside my current position as owner and Chief Analyst of Market Chartist. Alongside writing content for ForexTraders.com and ForexFraud.com I also write for In Touch Capital Markets and am looking to expand into more information and strategy provision via FxExplained.com (to launch this Summer).

Moderator: Well, Steve, we at (forextraders/forexfraud) definitely hold you in high esteem and are proud to have you as our Technical Analyst! Is there anything coming in the near future you can share with our readers?

Steve: Be sure to check out the next technical analysis update on the impact from the Federal Reserve and Bank of Japan in our nest reports.

Moderator: Thank you so much for taking your time to chat with us Today, Steve and once again… Congratulations!!

Steve: Many thanks and have a great trading day!
